Class | 2024 New Matcha Collection tasting with Kettl Founder Zach Mangan - Saturday, October 5th
$95.00
We are excited to share an opportunity to taste a new collection of pinnacle-grade matcha from two of the preeminent masters in Uji, Hiroshi Kobayashi & Kiyoharu Tsuji, with Kettl founder Zach Mangan at our private Kettl Studio space in Greenpoint.
With the explosion of matcha popularity in the United States, consumers are developing a deeper understanding of what makes good matcha, and are now demanding more transparency and quality. Kettl prides itself on being a pioneer in bringing the world-class teas of Japan to consumers in the US, and we are excited to share three new selections that continue to push those boundaries.
“Exploring and sourcing new teas is one of my job's most rewarding and challenging parts. While traveling to Japan and driving around drinking tea sounds like a vacation, it requires a lot of stamina, focus, and attention. I’ve mentioned this before, but we taste and evaluate much more tea we don’t buy than we end up purchasing. So when we do find producers and regions that align with what we are searching for, the feeling is incredible.”
This intimate gathering includes a tasting of three peerless matcha, including two selections blended by one of the only level 10 Chashi in all of Japan and a JAS-certified organic selection from long-term Kettl partner Kiyoharu Tsuji. During the tasting, Zach will share stories and insights into his sourcing approach and discovery of each tea. The tasting will be accompanied by 2 unique wagashi tea sweets.
At the end of the session, all guests will have the opportunity to buy the selections tasted during the class at a 10% discount.
This event will be held on Saturday, October 5th at our private Kettl Studio space. We will share location details with attendees ahead of the event.
Class and event tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.
