Description: This Kamairicha, or pan fired green tea, is a project between Kettl and one of our most trusted partners in Kyushu. This competition green tea was allowed to age for 5 years before being taken out of cold storage and finished at the factory. Aging has made for a more round and mature tea that still posses a youthful freshness. We love the bright, pointed chestnut aroma and pleasant easy drinking nature of this splendid tea.
What is so special about this tea? Pan fired green teas are much less common than steamed teas in Japan and account for less than 1% of annual production. This best in class example of pan fired ranked among the best made in 2015. We had this tea stored in cold storage - a process known as Jukusei. Although normally this aging process is not common for periods longer than 6-12 months, this longer period of time proved to be well conceived. The tea is mellow, fragrant and a totally unique addition to our catalog.
Recommended for: A chestnut like brew that is easy going and rewards over multiple brews.
