Description: An exquisite single cultivar Sencha from the mountains of Shimizu in Shizuoka Prefecture. Developed from select Yabukita seeds, Shizu7132 is prized for its elevated levels of the vanilla like chemical Coumarin that exudes a delicate Sakura leaf aroma. Manufactured to maximized aroma, this tea is a light steamed Asamushi style Sencha. The beautiful needle shaped leaves expand over multiple steepings making this a wonderful tea to sit with for a longer session. Truly unique and truly delicious, Shizu7132 is a wonderful glimpse at the character and quality of the mountain style Senchas of Shizuoka

What is so special about this tea? Shizu7132 was developed in the 1960's along side of several other cultivars (Koushun, Kurasawa, Yamakai) and is part of a group that were all named using "7000" as an identifier. Shizu7132 is only really found in Shizuoka and does well in higher elevation areas. Its unique spicy aroma makes it less favorable for tea wholesalers or those wanting to blend as it has almost too much personality. So commercially, it has never been successful. But it has grown a cult following by Sencha lovers and this years edition does not disspapoint. Brew this for friends and tea lovers and you'll be sure to turn some heads.
