Description: We are beyond excited to offer 2020's top Gyokuro as selected by the Japanese government's Ministry of Agriculture, forests and fisheries. This 100% Saemidori Gyokuro was crafted by Masafumi Jou of Kurogi, Fukuoka and was selected from among 200 entrants nationwide. The total production amount was only 4kg - so it is truly an honor to be able to share this incredible tea.

What is so special about this tea? Masafumi Jou, while still relatively young, has a premier plot of land deep in the forests of Kurogi in Yame and has a patience and willingness to put in the work to make top class Gyokuro. Shaded under rice straw and completely hand picked, only 4kg were produced. The combination of meticulous garden management, harvesting and perfection level production leads to a tea that is beyond reproach - an unbelievably unctuous mouthfeel with umami and sweetness that will leave you without words. This is a rare chance to try one of the true wonders of Japan.
