Horsetail Dobin Set with 200g of Yanagi Houjicha

Our horse tail dobin style tea pot was hand crafted in Nagasaki, a famous pottery town in southern Japan. This teapot is characterized by a rustic simplicity with its distinctive shape and traditional hand-painted tokusa patterns. Tokusa refers to a vertical stripe pattern that has its roots in the Japanese word for the horsetail grass, a plant known for its skyward growth. The pattern has been long loved since the Edo period as a symbol of success and prosperity. This series exudes warmth in its sandy, iron-heavy body and rusty underglaze, each stroke lovingly hand-painted by Hasami artisans.With a larger volume and a built in strainer, this tea pot shines with all teas from Houjicha, Genmaicha and Sencha and more.

The included cups are perfect for sharing. This earthenware teapot serves 3 to 4. Its round shape better circulates the tea leaves inside, ensuring that the tea leaves fully unfold and release their best flavors. These earthen teapots, made by ceramic artisans, have a beautiful yet practical form and continue to be handcrafted in the pottery town of Hasami today despite a drastic decrease in the number of earthenware teapot kilns in recent years.

This set ships with 200g of Jou Yanagi Houjicha, an expertly roasted Houjicha from Uji.
