We are excited to offer this brand new tasting set from one of Shizuoka's rising stars, Jiro Katahira. Nestled in the mountains of the Shimizu district, Katahira san's farm produces over 22 different varieties of single cultivar Sencha. We wanted to create a set to highlight the diversity and depth of his farm by showcasing some of the lesser known cultivars being produced today in Japan. This set includes three 50g bags of unique single cultivar 2023 Shincha - each hand crafted indvidually by Jiro Katahira. Isolating the maker, area and production allows us to just highlight the unique flavor profiles of the cultivars.
Okuharuka Shincha - 50g
We are excited to introduce a unique single cultivar Sencha crafted from the late budding Okuharuka cultivar. We love to enjoy this tea over multiple steeps as its unique mountain fragrance and creamy texture continue to develop and reward you.
Tsuyuhikari Shincha -50g
Tsuyuhikari is a favorite cultivar of ours. Known for its slightly spicy aroma evocative of sakura (cherry) leaves and cinnamon. Refreshing with a beautiful green hue, this high mountain Sencha always transports us back to the lovely fields in the shadow of mount Fuji.
Harumidori - 50g
A unique cultivar bred from Kanayamidori and Yabukita. This combination creates a rich umami without sacrificing the addictive scent of Yabukita. An easier brewer with a balanced, fragrant cup.
