Producer Set #1: Shimizu Shincha Collection

I love producer sets, it's such a good way to learn more about tea. In this set, we have three single cultivar shincha, in the Kettl's usual beautiful packaging. For me, the Yama No Ibuki Shincha was a nice discovery, with tasting notes I had never had in a sencha before. Each tea is delicious. It's fun to have them side by side to learn more about Japanese tea and discover their unique character.
I have been a Kettl customer for years, often coming back in search of that deep, umami / grassy taste that can be found in senchas like Chiran or Miyabi. This tea set marks the beginning of a new level for me. While I still love those grassy umami tastes, I’m also a new-found believer in this high-mountain experience. Reminds me of when I was a kid and getting a more refined taste in beer or wine, as opposed to just getting the usual Stella (which I still love). Follow the directions that Kettl provides, and enter the experience with curiosity, and you will fall in love while simultaneously feeling like that old, wise person on the leather chair in the study, enjoying this very intricate producer set. Highly recommend. My favorite is the Yamakai.
Love it. Has a great authentic taste just as I remember drinking sencha in Japan.
