Susudake whisks are incredibly limited and exceedingly rare. This chasen is crafted from the 100-200 year old bamboo sourced the inner roof of a traditional Japanese farm house. The deep color comes from years of exposure to smoke from an open hearth. Today, there are very few homes left with suitable bamboo. Most Susudake on the market is either smoked, which leaves a strong aroma, or dyed, meaning the color will fade with use. This true Susudake whisk was crafted by Chikusendou in Nara.
Whisks of this quality are not only stronger but provide more flexibility and "give" while holding up significantly longer than lower quality, cheaply made chasen. Each piece is a miniature work of art taking over 2 hours to complete.
