In Japan, cold brew tea is referred to as mizudashi. In this unique brewing style, green tea is steeped in cold water over an extended period. At Kettl, we think cold brewing highlights the “fundamental flavor” of tea, meaning you taste the leaf in a state that best expresses its inherent fresh flavor, reminiscent of the tea fields themselves. When cold brewed, many green teas will reveal heightened aromas that would otherwise be masked by stronger flavors released in hot water. In this tasting class and workshop, attendees will participate in a cross-comparison of teas prepared both cold and hot, learn a variety of cold brewing methods including matcha-specific recipes, and participate in a group tasting session complete with hands-on brewing. This is the perfect class for those looking to make the best cold tea and matcha and experience freshness in a whole new way.
The class is 90 minutes long and features an info session, tasting, and a small dessert pairing.
The class will be held at our Los Feliz cafe at 4677 Hollywood Blvd, LA CA 90027
