Izumi is a rare cultivar originally developed for Kamairicha production and export that now sees little production in modern Japan. Descended from Benihomare—a Japanese black tea cultivar—Izumi is known for its strong aroma and pronounced fruited quality. The Kimura family cultivates this tea in Sashima, producing oolong and wakoucha expressions that showcase the exotic profile of this mythical cultivar. As a fully oxidized tea, the profile presents a bounty of fruit and spice and a crisp, light texture.
