Gyokuro is Japan’s most revered tea style, but also most misunderstood. Relatively young compared to traditional styles, Gyokuro is a shaded tea with a singular brewing style that yields an unctuous and decadent concentrated cup—often only a few sips per serving. Despite its enigmatic reputation, Gyokuro is a prestigious category, and one of our favorites here at Kettl. In this class, guests will explore the history of Gyokuro and its modern-day production, followed by a brewing demonstration and comparative tasting of several prefectures’ unique takes on the style.
The class is 90 minutes long and features an info session, brewing demonstration, tasting, and a small dessert pairing.
