Horsetail Dobin

Our horsetail dobin style tea pot was handcrafted in Nagasaki, a famous pottery town in southern Japan. The beautifully hand painted lines are reminiscent of the fluttering hairs of a horse's tail. With a larger volume and a built in strainer, this teapot shines with all teas from Houjicha, Genmaicha, Sencha, and more. This earthenware teapot serves 3 to 4. Its round shape better circulates the tea leaves inside, ensuring that the tea leaves fully unfold and release their best flavors. These earthen teapots, made by ceramic artisans, have a beautiful yet practical form and continue to be handcrafted in the pottery town of Hasami today despite a drastic decrease in the number of earthenware teapot kilns in recent years.

Regional Craft Studios

Studio ceramics are created by groups of artisans, often working collectively within shared workshop spaces. These studios tend to represent a region rather than a single maker, reflecting a philosophy that values the work itself above the individual who created it. This ethos—rooted in the Mingei movement—celebrates the beauty of useful, everyday objects rather than elevating craft solely as fine art. We are proud to collaborate with several such studios and deeply respect their approach.

An unwavering commitment to quality.
