This houjicha is roasted in house using a base of kukicha stem tea grown by small farms throughout Gifu—a tea producing region just north of Nagoya. The grassy and saline profile of the tea is transformed by the roasting process, bringing out notes of fino sherry, toasted hay, and meyer lemon. Strikingly aromatic and effortlessly drinkable, this is among our favoite house roasted selections of the year.
