We are excited to share an emerging style of Japanese fermented wakoucha from the island of Tanegashima. This puerh-style tea is inoculated with black Koji spores, similar to those used in sake production, and allowed to undergo a multi-week fermentation. This incredible tea is rich and thick with unique notes of stewed fruit and a heightened, refreshing finish. This is a very special, super small lot and speaks to the future of Japanese tea production.
