Class | Houjicha: Experience the Art of Roasting Tea
Houjicha is a style of roasted Japanese green tea that is unmistakable due to its golden hue and intoxicating aroma. Houjicha occupies a unique space in the Kettl catalog and Japanese tea at large. Due to its low caffeine content, it is a ‘daily’ tea consumed in vast quantities all over Japan. In this class, guests will learn about the history of Houjicha, its defining traits, and varying styles through a live roasting on our roaster. Additionally, the class includes a comparative tasting after we roast the tea. This introductory class is great for those looking to explore Japanese tea for the first time and for those looking to travel deeper down the path of Houjicha.
The class is 90 minutes long and features an info session, tasting, and a small dessert pairing.
The class will be held at 70 Greenpoint Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11222
