The Matsumoto Family

Located in Minamata, Kumamoto Prefecture, Sakura-no-En is a small, family-run tea farm managed by Mr. and Mrs. Matsumoto. The farm has been in operation for several decades, and many of its tea bushes are nearly 90 years old.

Sakura-no-En is known for its organic approach. No chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides are used. Instead, the Matsumotos focus on maintaining a healthy natural ecosystem that supports the growth of resilient tea plants. This commitment to organic methods results in smaller yields but produces teas with a clear, distinctive character.
