Fuushun is a rare cultivar developed in the early 1990s by crossing Kanayamidori with wild zairai selections. This resulting tea has increased frost resistance, a higher year, and larger leaves. While optimized to grow in poorer soil, under the watchful eye of the Sakamoto family in the town of Gokase, the plants thrive in the picturesque growing conditions of the region. In the brewed cup Gokase Fuushun Oolong possesses a beautifully refined floral quality paired with a honeyed sweetness. The Sakamoto family continues to show their prowess at processing singular teas in Miyazaki.
