Kuromoji is a highly aromatic deciduous shrub in the laurel family, native to Japan. The leaves and branches of the plant are harvested for a variety of uses, such as wagashi picks, essential oils, and herbal tea. This Kuromoji grows wild at the base of Mt. Fuji at an altitude of 900, 1,100 meters, where it is hand-harvested by noi, a team dedicated to the region's wild aromatic plants. The fluctuations in temperature throughout the seasons and access to filtered light through the forest canopy create prime conditions for the development of Linalool, the primary terpene in Kuromoji that gives it a calming effect. Naturally caffeine-free and with a refreshing, slightly spicy, and floral profile, Kuromoji makes a perfect brew for unwinding.
